Privacy Policy
FuelJot does not collect your data. There is no account to create, no server to sync with, and no analytics of any kind.
The short version: everything you type into FuelJot stays on your iPhone or iPad unless you export it yourself or switch on backup to your own iCloud Drive. We have no server and no access to either copy.
What we collect
Nothing. FuelJot has no accounts, no sign-up, no login, no telemetry, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party SDKs.
Where your records are stored
Your vehicles, fill-ups, service records and settings are saved in a single file inside the app's private storage on your device. Receipt photos you attach to a fill-up are saved alongside it, in the same private storage. That storage is sandboxed by iOS: no other app can read it.
If you have iCloud Backup enabled in iOS Settings, that file is included in your device backup, the same as any other app's data. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy terms — we have no access to them.
Backing up to your iCloud Drive
FuelJot can write a copy of your records into your own iCloud Drive, as a plain CSV file you can open yourself. It keeps the last seven copies and replaces the oldest. Receipt photos are not included in this file — they stay on the device only.
This is off by default. Nothing is written until you switch on "Daily automatic backup" in Settings, and you can switch it off again at any time. There is also a "Back up now" button if you would rather do it by hand.
The file goes into your iCloud Drive and nowhere else. We have no server and no way to read it — it sits in your Apple account under Apple's privacy terms, the same as any other file you keep there. It is a one-way backup, not sync: your iPhone and iPad do not stay in step with each other.
Camera and photo access
FuelJot uses the camera and your photo library for two things, and you choose when.
- Reading numbers. Point the camera at a pump display, a receipt or your odometer and the app reads the number so you don't have to type it. Recognition runs entirely on your device, using Apple's Vision framework built into iOS. These images are not kept once you close the scanner.
- Receipt photos. You can attach a photo of the receipt to a fill-up, taken with the camera or picked from your photo library. The photo is reduced in size and saved in the app's private storage on your device, next to your records. It is shown only inside the app, is deleted when you delete it or the fill-up it belongs to, and is removed with everything else when you delete the app.
- Images are never uploaded anywhere. The app has no networking code at all.
- The app asks for camera or photo library permission only when you tap a scan or receipt button, and works fine if you decline — you can always type the number yourself and skip the photo.
If you write to us
The Settings screen has a feedback link that opens an email to support@getfueljot.com. Before sending, the app fills in a short block of technical lines so we can reproduce problems. It contains exactly this and nothing else:
- App version and build number
- Device model identifier, and the iOS version it is running
- Your preferred language and region setting
- Which units and currency you have selected in the app
- How many vehicles, fill-ups and service records you have — the counts only
It contains none of your entries themselves — no odometer readings, no prices, no station names, no notes, no locations, and nothing that identifies you personally. The whole block sits above your signature in the draft, so you can read it and delete any part of it before you press send.
If you do email us, we keep that message only as long as it takes to answer you.
Children
FuelJot is a general-purpose utility rated 4+. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Regulations such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to hand over or erase.
Your own copy is always available to you: CSV export is free, forever. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date below. If a future version of the app ever collects anything at all, that will be stated here plainly and disclosed in the App Store privacy labels before the update ships.
